I have been a TEFL teacher in Spain for the past 25 years and running my own language school in Conil since 2000. I have helped hundreds of students prepare for the official University of Cambridge exams from A2 to C1 as well as working as a Team Leader for the YLE Cambridge oral exam board in the region.
In my free time I love attending or participating in any local cultural events relating to theatre, dance and music. I write blogs on travel, another of my passions, and am the author of “The Complete Workaway Guidebook”.
I am a mother of three. The two eldest, Robin 23 and Emily 20, are studying at college and university in the UK. The youngest, Florence, lives with us. She is a bubbly eight-year- old. Since having a family I travel less, but over the past 20 years I have enjoyed hosting guests from all over the world. Many have used this as an opportunity to improve their language skills, as we always speak English at home.
I am a professional chef, writer and singer in a local World Music Band. I enjoy my role as house husband, being able to spend time with my daughter, Florence, ever since she was born. I write regular blogs for Huffington Post and I am in the process of promoting my new book, “The Black Dawg”, a poem tackling the issue of mental health. Trained as a chef, I used to run my own restaurant in Norwich, England and I also was a chef on private yachts for 10 years in the USA and Caribbean.
As a dj and promoter, I have been in charge of organizing many large-scale musical events. Nowadays I am involved in songwriting and have just had one of my tracks released with more to follow I hope.
I am fascinated by building projects and have renovated homes in Spain and Morocco where I bought a ruin in the Fez medina and restored it to its former glory. I ran it as a boutique hotel over a period of three years.
